To inspire and educate people to work towards a litter-free town by taking action to improve and beautify their community; to bring the public and private sectors together to develop and promote a clean environment; and to help change behavior to reduce litter at all levels within the Town of Riverhead.
The Riverhead Litter Committee unveiled the Riverhead Fish Trash Receptacle, an eye-catching 4-foot by 6-foot wire container designed to encourage beach goers to “feed the fish” by disposing of their drink containers properly.
The fish was designed and created by Clayton Orehek, a glass artist and sculptor, and was funded through grant monies received from National Grid.
