Agricultural Advisory Committee
To advise the Town Board on legislative and regulatory issues pertaining to agriculture.

Alternative Transportation Committee
The mission of the Town of Riverhead Alternative Transportation Committee is to encourage and address alternate means of transportation within the Riverhead Township. The goal is to expand opportunities for pedestrians, cyclists, and other users of non-motorized transportation.

Anti-Bias Task Force
Intolerance and prejudice against persons because of their race, ethnicity, age, disability, gender, religion or sexual orientation tears at the fabric of a democratic and pluralistic society. In consideration of the destructive effects of prejudice and racism in our communities and in order to address this ongoing problem, the Riverhead Anti-Bias Task Force has been created.

Anti-Litter Advisory Committee
To inspire and educate people to work towards a litter-free town by taking action to improve and beautify their community; to bring the public and private sectors together to develop and promote a clean environment; and to help change behavior to reduce litter at all levels within the Town of Riverhead.

Architectural Review Board
The purpose of the A.R.B is: to promote visual qualities in the environment which bring value to the community; to foster the attractiveness of the community as a place to live and work; to preserve the character and quality of our heritage by maintaining the integrity of those areas which have a discernable character or are of special historic significance; to protect public and private investments in the area; and to raise the level of community awareness and expectations for the quality of its environment.

Beach Advisory Committee
The Beach Committee addresses the specific needs of our beaches and examines issues related to maintaining the beach as a major asset to the town. Issues that may receive consideration, evaluation and advisory opinions by the committee include: maintenance programs, amenities, usage, rules and additional similar topics to make the beaches more attractive, physically healthier and accessible to the residents of the Town of Riverhead.

Board of Assessment Review
The BAR may administer oaths, take testimony, and hear proofs in regard to any complaint and the assessment to which it relates.

Board of Ethics
The Board of Ethics strives to provide fair and impartial guidance to Town officers and employees in discharging their duties in a proper and ethical manner and in accordance with the existing Code of Ethics.

Business Advisory Committee
The purpose and goal of the Riverhead Business Advisory Committee is to foster improved communications between town government and the business community and to identify and address, for the mutual benefit of the town and businesses, governmental factors that affect businesses within the town of Riverhead including but not limited to regulations, procedures and local laws.

Climate Smart Community Task Force
The Town of Riverhead adopted the New York State Climate Smart Communities Pledge on February 4, 2020 and created a Town of Riverhead Climate Smart Community Task Force for the purpose of examining and exchanging ideas and recommending solutions to assist each other in achieving those goals and issues that are of paramount importance to climate mitigation and adaptation.

Code Revision Committee
The mission of the Code Revision Committee is to review, consider, and recommend additions or amendments to the Town Code, to reflect the changing needs of the Town and to resolve discrepancies or conflicts within the Town Code so as to provide clarity and better serve the residents of the Town of Riverhead.

Comprehensive Plan Update
The Comprehensive Plan is an official, long-range 'blueprint' for the future of the Town. It details the community’s vision for the future and guides Riverhead on a wide range of issues such as future decisions on land use and development, capital spending, and general policy direction. The Comprehensive Plan also provides strategies addressing economic development, farmland preservation and the agricultural economy, housing, revitalization of Main Street and Hamlet centers, transportation, sustainable development, climate resiliency, and natural resource preservation and water quality.

Conservation Advisory Council
The CAC, in addition to the Planning Department, reviews applications for permits, and inspect properties, for all regulated activities within 150 feet of ALL freshwater wetlands & 300 feet of ALL tidal wetlands.

Disability Advisory Council
The mission of the Disability Advisory Council is to work toward fostering a universally designed and inclusive environment that makes it accessible for people of all abilities to participate fully in community life in the Town of Riverhead.

Downtown Revitalization Committee
The Downtown Revitalization Committee was formed with the purpose of finding innovative and dynamic solutions to revitalize our Downtown.

East Creek Advisory Committee
The committee's mission is to advise the Town Board on all matters pertaining to the operation of the docking facility.

Environmental Advisory Committee
The mission of the Riverhead Environmental Advisory Committee is to serve as a resource for the facilitation of conservation and environmental stewardship by the Town and its residents through education, government policies, and incentives.

Farmland Preservation Committee
The Farmland Preservation Committee's mission is to review and approve an inventory of agricultural lands within the Town of Riverhead, as prepared by the Planning Board, to be employed as a resource in the decision-making process of the Committee in the prioritization of agricultural lands to be preserved or acquired.

Helicopter Noise Task Force
The mission for the Helicopter Task Force is to have all Helicopters and Seaplanes that land on the South Shore fly over the Atlantic Ocean for arrival and departure to all destinations, including East Hampton airport. If this cannot happen, the Task Force will strongly urge East Hampton officials to close the airport when FAA funds come to an end.

Hispanic Development Empowerment and Education Committee
The Hispanic Development Empowerment & Education Committee (HDEEC) is dedicated to advancing the equity, representation, and success of Riverhead’s Hispanic community. Our mission is to empower individuals and families through education, economic opportunity, and civic engagement, while building strong partnerships across government, business, and community organizations.

Industrial Development Agency (IDA)
Created and established in 1980 as a public benefit corporation, the Riverhead Industrial Development Agency’s mission is to attract new businesses to Riverhead and to help existing Riverhead businesses expand their operations and remain in Riverhead.

Landmarks Preservation Committee
It is the purpose of the Landmarks Preservation Commission to conserve, protect, and preserve places, sites, structures, and buildings of special historic significance or, by reason of famous events, the antiquity or uniqueness of architectural construction and design which are of particular significance to the heritage of the Town of Riverhead.

Open Space Committee
The Open Space Committee's mission is to identify, review, and recommend to the Town Board lands that should be acquired by the Town and preserved as open space or incorporated into the Town park system or dedicated as a Town park.

Parking District Advisory Committee
To act in advisory capacity to the Riverhead Town Board, in its role as Trustees of the Riverhead Parking District, on all matters pertaining to maintenance, management and future development of areas within the Parking District.

Planning Board
The Planning Board is responsible for guiding development of land and growth within the Town of Riverhead. In accordance with the Riverhead Town Zoning Ordinance, state statute, and subdivision regulations, the Planning Board reviews and approves commercial and residential development. The Planning Board also reviews and recommends revisions to land use ordinances to the Town Board.

Recreation Advisory Committee
The Recreation Advisory Committee was created as an over-seer for park and recreation funds. Those funds would be spent on Recreation Capital Projects throughout the Town of Riverhead.

Senior Citizen Advisory Council
It is the Town of Riverhead Senior Citizen Advisory Council’s mission to assess and address the evolving needs of our dynamic seniors.

Traffic Safety Committee
The purpose of the Traffic Safety Committee is to promote safety on the streets of Riverhead by recommending solutions to traffic issues.

Veterans Advisory Committee
In 2014, the Veterans Advisory Committee was established to enhance the quality of life for veterans in the Town of Riverhead. The committee assists the Town in identifying the needs of its veteran community and advises the Town Board of the committee's recommendations as to the direction the Town can take in coordinating services and programs benefiting our veteran population, as well as providing them with valuable resources.

Water Forum
The goal of the Water Forum is to communicate and share information and ideas to best address, remedy, or implement measures to provide clean, safe drinking water to all our residents, minimize loss and waste of water, and maximize efficient and effective development of the Town's public water supply system. The goal is to provide safe and clean drinking water to our residents.

Wildlife Management Advisory Committee
The mission of the Wildlife Management Advisory Committee is to identify, develop, and implement a wildlife management plan for the Town of Riverhead's rich abundance of natural resources.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals is directly given jurisdiction by State Law. Appellate jurisdiction is the power to hear and decide appeals from decisions of those officials' charged with the administration and enforcement of the Zoning ordinance or local law.
