Town Board Liaison
As owner and co-owner of several successful businesses in New York City, Bob relishes in working with people on exciting ideas and initiatives. One client with a new idea was the Entenmann family who were working on a start-up vineyard, Martha Clara Vineyards. That relationship brought him the North Fork on multiple occasions and in 2000 led to a position as Operations Manager for the vineyard; a position he held for ten years and during which time the vineyard became one of the preeminent vineyards on the East End. From that initial work, Bob knew he would make the North Fork his home. His entrepreneurial spirit leading him to be involved in developing and promoting the North Fork.
Bob's long-standing relationships with the Riverhead farming and agricultural community began during his time on the Long Island Farm Bureau Board, when he was Marketing Chair of the Long Island Wine Council and as a Board Member of the NYS Wine and Grape Governor's Task Force. Bob was the recipient of the 2007 NYS Farm Bureau Public Policy Award and at the time, Bob was the first person from Long Island to have been given this award.
Additionally, Bob was a former board member and longest-serving continuous President of the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce. His time with the Chamber of Commerce parallels perfectly with his role as Councilman during a time of ongoing Downtown Revitalization. During this time, Bob Kern also was an active board member of East End Tourism Alliance.
Bob's early professional life consisted of nearly 20 years as partner and President of a multimedia company, in New York City, a founding partner and Vice President of a biotech company, who's patent was later sold to a larger firm and later, he co-founded a music publishing company which he successfully ran for nearly a decade.
As a member of the Riverhead Town Board, Bob blends his business acumen, passion for innovation and cutting-edge technology, appreciation for the fine arts and dedication to the agricultural community. Bob is also an avid golfer, art enthusiast and musician.
